Reportable & Notifiable
Reportable diseases are diseases that must be brought to the attention of ISGHB immediately, as soon as identified in sheep or goats.
Notifiable diseases are diseases that must be brought to the attention of ISGHB within 48 hours of discovery in sheep or goats.
If a reportable or notifiable disease is discovered in sheep or goats, notify Idaho Sheep and Goat Health Board in the appropriate timeframe by calling 208-803-5084.
The following lists are from IDAPA 02.04.03 “Rules Governing Animal Industry” and have reportable and notifiable diseases by animal type (or “multiple” if it is found in more than one animal type).

- Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia
- Nairobi Sheep Disease
- Ovine Brucellosis (B. melitensis)
- Peste des Petits Ruminants
- Scrapie
- Sheep and Goat Pox
Notifiable Diseases
- Bluetongue
- Caprine Arthritis/Encephalitis (CAE)
- Caseous Lymphadentis
- Contagious Agalactia (Mycoplasma spp.)
- Enzootic Abortion (Chlamydia psittici)
- Footrot
- Haemonchus Contortus (drug-resistant)
- Johne’s Disease
- Maedi-Visna/Ovine Progressive Pneumonia
- Ovine Epididymitis (Brucella ovis)
- Toxoplasma gondii abortion
- Vibrionic abortion (Campylobacter fetus)
